The ASEAN Cool Initiative, funded by the Clean Cooling Collaborative (CCC), was launched to accelerate the implementation of the ASEAN Regional Policy Roadmap for Energy-Efficient Room Air Conditioners (RACs). The initiative provides technical assistance and capacity-building support on Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and labelling in the region.
Coordinated by U4E and OzonAction, in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA), the Initiative organized a Study Tour in Singapore to promote knowledge exchange, share best practices, and deepen understanding of regulatory frameworks for MEPS implementation and enforcement. The tour also highlighted Singapore’s successful strategies in adopting the Regional Phase II MEPS targets.
35 representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam attended the study tour, which was held from November 4 to 7. Participants also included representatives from U4E, ACE, the Clean Cooling Collaborative (CCC), the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and UNEP OzonAction.
