Main Components
The GCF Readiness Programme-funded projects aim to create an enabling policy and regulatory environment for energy-efficient refrigerators and distribution transformers. By supporting market transformation toward higher-efficiency technologies, they contribute to reducing pressure on electricity grids, increasing disposable income for households and potentially reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The components are the same in each of the eight countries and are implemented at the national level.
- Conduct market assessments
- Engage and consult with technical committees for standards development
- Develop national policy roadmaps, including monitoring, verification and enforcement plans
- Conduct consumer awareness campaigns
- Deliver training workshops and training-of-trainers programmes
- Develop minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and energy labels
- Identify and develop financing mechanisms and options
