The initiative promotes an integrated policy approach to support the transition to energy-efficient lighting technologies, ensuring that market transformation can be sustained over time by the domestic market without continued external support.

Main Components

This GEF-funded project aims to accelerate the transformation of Tunisia’s lighting market, contributing to reduce electricity demand and associated greenhouse gas emissions.

Revision and support for finalising national regulations on Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and energy labelling for lighting
Training and technical support for local manufacturers to transition from incandescent and CFL production to LED manufacturing
Enhancement of testing capacities in national laboratories, including support for international accreditation
Development of an operational framework for collection, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of spent lighting products
