United for Efficiency (U4E) supports Caribbean countries in strengthening energy-efficiency policies and regulatory frameworks. The programme provides technical assistance to governments to promote the adoption of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), energy labelling and related market surveillance mechanisms.

Energy efficiency plays an important role in the Caribbean context, where electricity costs are often high and power systems are typically small and import-dependent. Strengthening regulatory frameworks contributes to improved energy security, reduced electricity demand and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

At a Glance

  • Technical assistance to Caribbean countries on energy-efficiency policy
  • Support for MEPS and energy labelling frameworks
  • Capacity-building for policymakers and regulators
  • Analysis of potential energy and emissions savings
