The initiative promotes an integrated policy approach to support the transition to energy-efficient lighting and appliances, ensuring that market transformation can be sustained over time by the domestic market without continued external support.

Main Components
This GEF-funded project aims to support market transformation toward high-efficiency lighting and electrical appliances through an integrated policy approach. The initiative contributes to reducing growth in electricity demand and greenhouse gas emissions, while supporting increased energy access.
- Adoption of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and energy labelling requirements, alongside strengthening monitoring, verification and enforcement
- Capacity building for importers and local industry on new MEPS and labelling requirements
- Public awareness-raising through multimedia communication and mass media campaigns
