Paris, France, 19 January 2015 The Opening Ceremony was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. The IYL 2015 aims to raise awareness about how light-based technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture, communications and health.
The year 2015 has been proclaimed as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015).
