The World’s Most Energy-Efficient Luminaires Awarded

On Wednesday 8 November, the sixth SEAD Global Efficiency Medal competition identified and recognized highly energy-efficient industrial lighting luminaires from LumoLumen and Zumtobel, and outdoor lighting luminaires from Bajaj Electricals.

The ceremony took place at the International Energy Agency, Paris, France. Samuel Thomas of the Agency presented the awards.

The SEAD Global Efficiency Medal recognizes the world’s most energy-efficient products and demonstrates the levels of efficiency that are possible today. This year’s SEAD Global Efficiency Medals are awarded to the most energy efficient outdoor (streetlights) and industrial (high-bay and low-bay luminaires) lighting products, sold across Europe, India, and North America.

The products awarded were as follows:

LumoLumen b.v. – 12K Polaris LB

LumoLumen b.v. – 24K Polaris HB

Zumtobel – TECTONC-7400-830-L2000-WB-WH-DU

Zumtobel – TECTONC-7400-840-L2000-WB-WH-DU

Bajaj Electricals Limited – BRTFG 60 W LED WH XE

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative is a voluntary collaboration among governments working to promote the manufacture, purchase, and use of energy-efficient appliances, lighting, and equipment worldwide. SEAD is an initiative under the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and a task of the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).

In January 2012, the initiative launched the first SEAD Global Efficiency Medal competition. The programme has also awarded supper efficient flat panel TV:s, monitors, motors as well as domestic and commercial lighting. A Connected Efficiency Award was presented on 7 November this year.
