United for Efficiency is delighted to welcome the world’s largest residential air conditioner manufacturer, GREE, to our extensive network of partners. GREE, based in Zhuhai, China, is a leading manufacturer of room air conditioners, refrigerators and a variety of other electrical appliances. The partnership with GREE is a natural given their range of innovative technologies providing energy-efficiency savings and improved cooling services.

They continue to advance the way cooling services are delivered by offering advancements like solar-powered air conditioners” said Patrick Blake, UN Environment Programme Officer, at the partnership announcement at the 5th International Conference on Refrigeration Technology in Zhuhai, on 6 – 7 December.
As a United for Efficiency partner, GREE will support the development of policy guidance for developing and emerging economies, such as the upcoming United for Efficiency Model Regulation Guidelines on Room Air Conditioners and Refrigerators. In addition, GREE will participate in outreach events throughout Asia and Africa.
During the conference, Mr. Tan Jianming, Vice President of GREE, noted “We are very pleased to be part of UN Environment’s United for Efficiency partnership. We see the importance of building a global village between manufacturers, universities, international organisations and consumers in aiming to meet climate targets. GREE will help guide country stakeholders with policies to provide climate friendly and low global-warming-potential cooling products.”
Partners contribute to the success of the United for Efficiency initiative in a variety of ways, from providing funding for specific activities and technical expertise to market intelligence and project development input and outreach support. Currently, United for Efficiency has over 30 partners, including manufacturers, intergovernmental organisations, environmental groups, like-minded initiatives and academic institutions.
