These model regulation guidelines are a supplement to the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP’s) United for Efficiency (U4E) Lighting Policy Guide, Accelerating the Global Adoption of Energy-Efficient Lighting, and cover linear fluorescent tubes and linear fluorescent luminaires (fittings or fixtures). They are intended for use by regulatory authorities in developing countries and emerging economies that are considering a voluntary, regulatory or legislative framework to promote energy-efficient linear lamps and luminaires, or those that have a legislative framework but have not yet developed regulations for energy-efficient linear lamps and luminaires.
The model regulation guidelines include the means to regulate a transition for linear lighting systems to more energy-efficient LED solutions. They include all the key elements that are needed: definitions, scope, performance requirements, information requirements, applicable test methods and compliance criteria.
