EIGHT GCF READINESS PROJECTS FOR LEAPFROGGING TO ENERGY-EFFICIENT REFRIGERATORS AND TRANSFORMERS

The objective of the GCF Readiness Programme-funded projects in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe is to create an enabling policy and regulatory environment for refrigerators and distribution transformers. This will transform markets to energy-efficient refrigerators and distribution transformers and ultimately reduce the strain on the electricity grid, increase disposable income for householders and potentially reduce GHG emissions.

Main Components

The components are the same in each of the eight countries and are being implemented at a national level.
