United for Efficiency supports Brazil’s policymakers and regulators to advance policies, strategies and actions for the phase-out of inefficient refrigeration products. Emphasis is on an integrated policy approach so that a transition can be sustained by the domestic market without continued external support or resources.

LEAPFROGGING TO ENERGY-EFFICIENT AND CLIMATE FRIENDLY COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATING APPLIANCES IN BRAZIL

This GCF Readiness Programme-funded project aims to help Brazil leapfrog to energy-efficient and climate friendly commercial refrigerators by enhancing stakeholder capacity for pursuing strategic priorities, pursuing an implementation framework for MEPS and labels, and creating greater knowledge sharing and learning for consumers on purchasing efficient cooling products.

Recommendation to implement new minimum energy performance standards and labels at the national level
Build capacities for monitoring, verification and enforcement for commercial refrigerators including training workshop for national testing laboratories

Report with recommendations/guidelines on sustainable procurement of refrigerators
Workshop to share products and lessons with other MERCOSUR countries
